With the growing awareness of the impact of our consumer choices, more and more women are looking for ethical and responsible options and some brands do not hesitate to seize this awareness to deceive the consumer by greenwashing.

What does ethics have to do with the women's sneaker industry?
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries, especially fast fashion. Very greedy in raw materials and energy, it is often singled out and rightly so. We know today that a woman owns between 11 and 84 pairs of sneakers. Needless to say, to fill our closets, sneaker production is running at full speed.
That's why we decided to develop ethical women's sneakers that are both responsible and trendy. Our goal? To reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing our sneakers, but without ever compromising on style!
Materials used to make ethical sneakers
To know if sneakers are ethical, you must first look at the materials used.
Mood Walk has chosen noble and environmentally friendly materials. Indeed, our women's sneakers are made from recycled materials or bio-sourced ecological materials. Whether for the exterior of the sneakers, the sole or the lining, we always make sure to choose the best.
Mainly made from corn, our bio-material is manufactured by our partner Coronet. To be more precise, the material used for our women's sneakers is a bio-PU. This material is produced from non-food corn transformed into bio-polyols. By using this bio-material also called “ corn leather” , we ensure that we significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to leather sneakers that emit a lot of CO2. As for the outsoles, we have opted for partly recycled rubber with local sourcing in Portugal. Our laces are made from recycled cotton and our boxes are made from recycled cardboard!
Fair manufacturing, respectful of producers
It is not enough to only use ecological materials to guarantee ethical production. It is also necessary to ensure that the social and economic conditions are fair for the workers involved. All our women's sneakers are assembled by hand in Portugal in a human-sized workshop. The working conditions of the craftsmen are respected. We make it a point of honor that employees benefit from decent hours and remuneration commensurate with the work provided.

Labels used for the manufacture of ethical sneakers
A brand that offers ethical sneakers must be transparent. This transparency concerns not only the manufacturing process, but also the certifications and labels obtained.
The bio-material used for our women's sneakers is approved by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). This international label certifies that our “corn leather” is not made of materials of animal origin. As for the material used for the lining of our ethical sneakers , it is labeled OEKO-TEX Standard 100. In other words, our linings do not contain chemicals that are harmful to health.
Solidarity initiatives
When choosing your ethical women's sneakers, it is important to consider the social impact of the brand. Does it support local development? Does it donate to charities?
In favor of equality for all, by purchasing Mood Walk women's sneakers, part of the profits (€2 per pair of sneakers) are donated to the association Toutes à l'Ecole. More than education, the purchase of these solidarity sneakers allows the emancipation of these young girls.
